I enjoy keeping a set diet since it makes grocery shopping, food prep and planning easier. Every week when I go to the grocery store, I know exactly which route I take through the isles and how much it will cost. I enjoy switching proteins up or trying something new occasionally, but I tend to keep it the same week to week.
For breakfast, I have egg whites, oatmeal and protein powder with a banana. For lunch, it’s ground turkey, jasmine rice, and zucchini. After the gym, I have a protein shake, ground bison, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Dinner is always chicken, broccoli, and sweet potato. My favorite snack before bed is Greek yogurt, protein powder, and fruit. Although it may sound boring, food prep is super easy, and I wouldn’t rather eat anything else. I have a stack of meal prep bowls, and each Sunday, I boil a big pot of rice and sweet potato, put a large skillet of ground turkey and bison on, bake a bunch of chicken breasts, and then only need to cook veggies and eggs in the morning. I feel that most people have trouble eating healthy since they think it is expensive, but I save a lot of money prepping my food myself. It is also easy to get home from work and stop for fast food if you don’t feel like cooking or just making something quick and lazy. I don’t think I would ever feel like making chicken, broccoli, and sweet potatoes after work, but if it’s a meal prepped for me – I do it every time.
Another benefit to eating a linear diet is that you know everything you are putting into your body and how it makes you feel, if you try something new and don’t like it – you are able to know exactly what it was that caused you to feel that way. I started this system about a year ago and haven’t turned back.
