I aim to go skiing, running, or even for a calm walk-in nature every week. It is a time that I feel free, get a much-needed reset and can think through my next week to set my priorities. From my everyday routines of walking on the treadmill, working from home, and going to the gym; I spend too much time inside. When the summer comes around, I will get my outside runs in the morning, like I did in college, but during the winter in Denver, that’s just how it goes.
When I run, I feel as though everything makes sense. I am able to detach from my recurring thoughts to pinpoint where I am and what needs to get done to get where I want to go. It is almost as if I am able to look at my life from a third party perspective absent from my excuses, emotions and baggage that influences my everyday choices. I wouldn’t trade this time for anything and it is an experience I have not been able to find anywhere else.
