If on your own, make sure to account for these stages in your content creation framework plan. 1. Content Management and Strategy

For effective content marketing you will need to create a long-term content plan, map it to business needs and track progress along the way to ensure all responsibilities have been met. When working in a team this role is usually identified as the Content Marketing Manager or the Strategist. Some tools that can serve this role would be Trello or other internal communication tools.

2. Writing

Clearly, someone will need to be responsible for the copywriting itself. Some companies utilize freelance writers but remember that you should preserve a similar tone and voice in all of your efforts. Some tools that can serve this role would be Google Docs or Microsoft Word to easily update drafts with suggestions from other departments.

3. Editing

Once content has been planned and created, it is ready to be edited. This stage is most beneficial when done by a third-party to get a new pair of eyes on the copy. Editing will ensure alignment with brand messaging, target market needs, buyer journey stage and the overall goals of the content. Similar to the writing stage, a tool that would serve the editor would be Google Docs or Microsoft Word to make suggestions without directly editing the copy.

4. Designing

Once edits are complete, the content will need to be packaged in a way that’s appealing to readers. The blink test has told us that the average website visitor spends 3-5 seconds scanning a webpage before deciding if they actually want to read it or not. A tool that could best serve the designing stage is Canva!

5. Distributing

Finally, the content distributor, sometimes referred to as the social media coordinator, will be responsible for bringing the content to market through a strategic promotion plan. The coordinator will often be responsible for analyzing the results of their promotion plan by utilizing channel specific analytics tools. Another tool that could serve the distributor would be platforms such as Social Sprout that can help you schedule and post to multiple channels.
